Seoul Fortress Wall (서울성곽). First built in 1396 by the first Joseon King, Taejo, it was rebuilt in 1422 by King Sejong, and reinforced in 1704 by King Sukjong. The wall runs along and connects the mountains that surround old Seoul: Namsan (남산), Inwangsan (인왕산), Naksan (낙산), and Bugaksan (북악산), with 8 gates allowing access to the city.
This is 혜화문, Hyehwamun, the northeast gate.
