Solmoe Holy Ground 솔뫼성지
Birthplace of Korea's first native priest, Andrew Kim Daegun. Kim Daegun studied in Macau, became ordained in Shanghai, and was martyred in Seoul in 1846. Solmoe was also home to relatives of Kim Daegun who were also martyred in the early 19th century. Pope John Paul II elevated him to sainthood in 1984, becoming the patron saint of Korea. The site was visited by Pope Francis in August 2014.
